Don’t Worry

“Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭26‬ ‭

“Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭27‬ ‭

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭33‬ ‭

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” ‭‭ Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭34‬ ‭

I was watching a mockingbird out of my kitchen window gathering things from around the yard to make a nest, and it really brought my mind straight to Matthew 6:26. Birds don’t worry about finding nesting materials or food. They just get out there, knowing that they will find exactly what they need in order to survive. They instinctively trust God and know that they will be provided for. Wouldn’t you say that we are more valuable to God than the birds are? Matthew 6:27 tells us how worrying adds absolutely nothing of any value to our lives. It’s easy to worry about material things, but it’s far better to believe that God will provide us with everything we need if we put Him first. That’s exactly what Matthew 6:33 goes on to tell us when it says that God will give us everything we need if we seek His kingdom above all else and live righteously. Lastly, in the words of Matthew 6:34, don’t worry about tomorrow when you haven’t even gotten through today yet. Let this be a reminder for you to have unshakable faith in the Lord’s provisions for your life, to notice the things around you that He’s providing for you each and every day, and to stop worrying so much!
